W Health Ventures describes itself as India's first healthcare company creation fund. Rather than investing in existing startups, its in-house team of physicians, operators and technologists identifies structural gaps in healthcare delivery, spends 12 to 18 months pressure-testing the opportunity with real paying patients and customers, then recruits a founding team, writes the first cheque and keeps co-building until the company leads its category. It operates in India and the US-India corridor, choosing needs that are large, urgent and overlooked. Fund II closed at INR 700 crore and aims to build 8 to 10 companies over the next four years.
