Villgro is an impact-first incubator, founded in 2001 as Rural Innovations Network and renamed Villgro Innovations Foundation in 2009, that takes in innovative social enterprises serving under-served communities in four sectors: climate-smart agriculture, healthcare, climate action, and inclusive livelihoods and entrepreneurship. It provides seed funding as equity, debt, grant or a combination, hands-on incubation built around diagnostic panels and a 100-day plan, market partnerships with FPOs, NGOs and SHGs, and innovative financing that uses philanthropic capital to de-risk commercial debt for enterprises at the early commercialisation stage. The site states Villgro has incubated 300+ startups, provided Rs 671 Mn in seed funding, impacted 20 Mn lives, and that Rs 4 Bn of follow-on funding has been raised by portfolio companies.
