IITMIC is the nodal incubator of IIT Madras, registered as a not-for-profit Section 8 company and recognised as a Technology Business Incubator by DST (NSTEDB) and by DPIIT. It takes in deep-tech startups founded by IIT Madras students, faculty, staff and alumni as well as external entrepreneurs, and over 60 percent of its recent intake comes from founders across India. It offers 18 months of incubation support with access to IITM labs and the IITM Research Park, mentoring through the alumni network and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence programme, and seed funding subject to availability. As of April 2026 it had incubated 567 startups with a combined valuation of over ₹74,100 Cr; the December 2025 release states ₹17,310 Cr of VC investment raised by incubatees, 11,000+ direct jobs, 700+ patents filed by incubatees and 13 M&A events.
